Kenya Gititu Washed

Region: Kiambu County, Kenya

Producers: Around 1,000 smallholder farmers delivering cherry to the Gititu Coffee Factory 

Varietal: Sl-28, SL-34, Batian, Ruiru 11

Process: Washed: Depulped and fermented in clean water 12-24 hours overnight before being dried on raised beds 

Tasting notes: Raspberry, Pomelo, Cola 

Roaster Notes: This one was able to take quite a bit of heat, as I rushed it through dry, slowed down a little bit through middle for some added ripe fruit quality, and kept quite a bit of energy on it through crack to end around 30s of development and an average end temp. The final cup is extremely clean, crystal clear and beautifully complex. Ripe, sweet, and tart raspberry is present throughout, gives way to a bright pomelo acidity, cardamom and allspice, and cola as it cools. Some pleasant white florals come up on the last few sips.
