Kenya Gitura Washed

Region: Muranga County, Kenya

Producers: 700 smallholders delivering cherry to the Gitura Coffee Factory 

Varietal: Field Blend of SL-28, SL-34, and Ruiru 11 

Process: Washed: Depulped and fermented in clean water 12-24 hours overnight before being dried on raised beds 

Tasting notes: Blackberry Syrup, Green Apple, Grapefruit

Roaster Notes: After burning the first test roast a bit, I approached this coffee quite a bit more gently with lower charge energy at the start, compressing most of my gas into the center of the roast to reduce time spent in middle. About 30 seconds of development here and a pretty average end temperature. End result is an insanely intense and complex cup with syrupy blackberry, green apple, pineapple, grapefruit, and a very well defined and sweet cola note.
